Rain at Hatcher's

Well... more of a mist, but it's better than the sweltering sun.

6.4 Designs

My theoretical design company, I have example works in a Flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/garretwd/sets/72157618569589349/

The Tunnel

Because there are no other tunnels in Wasilla, Alaska.

100 Miles

I drove 100 miles up the Old Glenn Highway on evening, because.... I wanted to. Pics, so it did happen.

Around Palmer

...On a sunny day.

Of Musical Exhibitions

My dad playing at a local cafe with two of his other friends Ed, and Fred, a group we've all named Deadheaded Fred.

This week's photography homework: self portraits without mirrors.

This lightbulb is fully illuminated, in all it's glory.

Of $50.00

Such is the fee for Canon to perform sensor cleaning. It was finished today around noon, and is being mailed in return via FedEx.

Of Free Food (For Life!)

Supposedly, I won't be charged for ANYTHING at KafeNeo, due to my extensive design work, and the final deal: a general poster/flyer for various advertising purposes.

Of Interpretation

My first real design gig officially is in the works: A local cafe owner is putting on a dance show with some of my friends. Volunteer flyer design has apparently paid off, because i'll get a cut of the proceeds. Below is the first interpretation of:

"The title is still in the works. Something to the effect of "Perfect, Perfect." Its a spin off the classic fairytale princess. When no one's wathcing she's not so perfect-the clumsy Lucille Balle type. In the end of course, she finds a middle ground. We have a nice duet finale with the "the prince." Anna and I are playing the dual roles of the "princess"- the prim and perfect one vs the silly clumsy one. Its comedic and dramatic- with alot of pantomime. Like a 1920's silent movie with quirky french music. The color scheme is black, white, and red. And roses! (an allusion to almost every princess story)". And so I created the first example.

After some feedback: "Originally, I was thinking something kind of quirky and mod but I want to use this as well. Pin Photography is going to do a photo shoot with us this coming week; those will be available for promo in about two weeks." I created the second example, which is the final choice.

Which do you think is better?

Voyage

It’s my Grand Plan,
My Master Design.
It’s what I want,
It’s what I need?

To feel right, to feel good.
Often one may ponder:
Just what is it I should do?
(And just how should I go about it?)

Is ambition a sin?
No.
One may find solidarity in that answer,
If nothing else.

Odysseys are taken step.
By step.
One stride.
Then another.

Draw strength through triumph
Of each small footfall.
If bricks buildings are made,
And so, by small choices

Your life will progress.

Of Classes With Coffee

Today I begin attendance at another installment of Aaron Zulliger's Photogrpahy Workshop (Advanced II). Plenty of motivation to take plenty of pictures, and maybe i can figure out a quick fix for a dusty sensor. (I'm too cheap for pro equipment)

Try it. It's enjoyable, and at times surprising. CD Cover Meme

Of The Interesting Effects of Lenses and Aperture

Depending on the depth of field, even the mundane becomes captivating.

Of Sensor Cleaning.

Here are two photography taken this last week with different lenses, light, shutter speeds, apertures, but the same camera. Obviously there is something in my camera. Can anyone recommend an easy/safe/cheap fix? I found some information on how to, but it seems complicated and I don't have the gear. Yet. Feedback?

A Fresh Start.

It is here and now that I make a fresh start. I enjoy posting creative works, and I will do so.
